something to finish off the day

The Facehunter Book, Coming Soon to a Bookstore Near You!

Okay I am ridiculously excited about this. I often find a lot of my inspiration in the streets which is why I always suggest carrying some sort of sketchbook around with you. Often ideas strike when least expected and if you're anything like me- by the time I find a pen I've forgotten what I wanted to write down.

Anyway this looks awesome so keep an eye out for it at Colette on January 23rd or pre-order today at Amazon.com!

Shallow Thoughts

I suppose it would be tragic to start a blog and not post SOMETHING the 1st day. Sitting at the job, it's a warm 33 degrees outside... at least it feels warm compared to the last few days.

So this will be practice until I have my website up. I'm a costume designer and stylist and having a website is a necessity these days. People can find you 1st of all- people you know, people you don't know and people you may want to know and work with. It's also a place to display your work and your personality. The layout of my site has been one of the things I've spent the most time thinking about over the past month or two of designing etc.
But I don't know... maybe that has something to do with going to art school, being an artist (of sorts) and generally enjoying the world from a very aesthetic perspective.

My goal is basically to take anyone who is interested on the journey of starting a career. I've been in fashion, well most of my life, but technically about 7 or 8 years. It was only this last year however that I had a little epiphany. I finally knew what I really and truly wanted to do with my life... and as I've started to experience my life in relation to my new career I'm falling in love all over again. I have always wanted my work to be fun, to not feel like work and to have meaning to me. Finally these things are part of the reality I'm living.

So what do people usually ask those seemingly lucky few who are living out their dreams, who have continuing success and who love their jobs? "How did you get started?" "What were the steps you took?" "Did you ever want to give up?" "What did you do when you were broke!?"
...

I hope by blogging from the beginning of my career to wherever it takes me, my life, experiences, thoughts and feelings can be a tool for those who need a little guidance in the beginning, middle and beyond for their own dreams, desires and careers.

Cheers & Happy New Year!
